The Edmonton market
Edmonton has a smaller private cosmetic sector than Calgary but strong academic medicine through the University of Alberta. If your case is complicated — prior revisions, suspected rupture, or anything needing pathology — the academic route is worth including in your consultations.

AHCIP rules apply as elsewhere in Alberta: cosmetic removal is not funded, medically necessary removal may be.
Where a procedure is not funded, the cost is yours. Ask for the quote in writing, and ask specifically what it includes — surgeon’s fee, anaesthetist, facility, pathology and follow-up are sometimes billed separately.
