Breast implant removal in Windsor

What the Windsor market looks like, how to verify a surgeon’s licence in Ontario, and the questions that separate a specialist from a website.

The Windsor market

Windsor is a small market for this procedure. The number of surgeons performing explant with capsulectomy regularly here is limited, and many patients travel to London or Toronto for a second opinion before deciding. That is worth planning for rather than discovering late.

Being directly across the river from Detroit, some patients weigh crossing into Michigan. That means the US system: no OHIP coverage, US pricing, and considerably harder recourse if a complication develops once you are home. Weigh it against a drive to London.

Is removal covered in Ontario?

OHIP rules apply as elsewhere in Ontario — cosmetic removal is not funded, medically necessary removal may be, and pre-approval is normally required. Coverage does not follow you across the border.

Where a procedure is not funded, the cost is yours. Ask for the quote in writing, and ask specifically what it includes — surgeon’s fee, anaesthetist, facility, pathology and follow-up are sometimes billed separately.

Verified surgeons in Windsor

No verified listings yet in Windsor

We publish a surgeon only once we have checked their board certification against the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontarioand the practice has confirmed the entry. We will not fill this section by copying practice websites — that produces a list of who ranks well, not who operates well.

If you are a surgeon in Windsor whose practice includes explant work, listing is free and there is nothing to buy.

Verify any Ontario surgeon yourself

Do this before the consultation rather than after. It takes a few minutes and it is public information.

  • Check licence status and any disciplinary history with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Confirm certification separately — in Canada the relevant body for this surgery is the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. A provincial licence means someone may practise medicine; it does not mean they are a certified plastic surgeon.
  • Ask how many explant procedures with capsulectomy they performed in the last twelve months. Someone who does this weekly answers immediately.
  • Confirm the surgical facility is accredited, and that it is where you will actually be operated on.

Our provider guidance covers the full question list and the warning signs worth walking away from, and the en bloc page explains why the answer you want on technique is about judgement rather than a promise.

Cost in Windsor

We are not going to quote you a range assembled from marketing pages. We are collecting what people actually paid, by region and procedure type, and will publish the Windsor figures once we have enough of them to mean something.

If you have had explant surgery in the Windsor area and are willing to share what you were charged, write to admin@explanthealth.com. Contributions are anonymous and only aggregates are published.
